Categories: Press Releases

Cairo, 16 December 2015: – With the objective of expanding awareness of its trade finance facilities and engaging with the Ethiopian business community, the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is to hold a business forum in the Ethiopian capital city of Addis Ababa on 21 December.

Afreximbank announced in Cairo today that it would also use the event, being organised in collaboration with the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, to gather information on the needs of Ethiopian enterprises and industries to allow it to customize its products and services to the needs of the market.

According to Afreximbank, the forum will feature a half-day seminar with presentations and case studies on the Bank’s trade finance offerings for business operators, followed by one-on-one meetings between participants and Afreximbank officials to discuss available financing solutions, eligibility criteria and business opportunities.

Afreximbank said that the forum was being held in the context of Ethiopia’s 2025 Growth and Transformation Plan and sought to support structural change through the financing of manufacturing ventures, the promotion of competitive value-added exports and greater involvement of local entrepreneurs in key growth sectors.

Senior representatives of the Ethiopian Government are expected at the event, which will take place at the Sheraton Addis, along with representatives of the National Bank of Ethiopia and the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia.

The forum participants will include heads of financial institutions in Ethiopia, corporate executives from different sectors of the economy, and representatives of business associations, chambers of commerce and government agencies.

The event is part of an awareness campaign being organized by Afreximbank in its member countries with the aim of enhancing knowledge about the Bank, furthering business linkages and expanding trade finance activities.
